"This
painting symbolizes how throughout history countries,
cultures, and religions have dealt with opposing
viewpoints. We settle our differences by waging
war on one another with the conquerors imposing
their viewpoint on the vanquished.The human
race is one body but we have different minds.
We
can kill the body but the mind, spirit and soul
of a people can never be defeated. I painted
this piece during the time the U.S. was invading
Iraq. While we can easily win a war with Iraq,
we cannot defeat their desire for self-determination."
